Sometimes, what begins as an internship project can lead to significant practical improvements. That was certainly the case with a project led by our intern Karolin earlier this year. Her task: to integrate our procurement system for automated pricing and order placement with vendors like Mouser Electronics.
At rosslight mechatronics, we manage an inventory of nearly 2,000 distinct parts—each tracked with technical specifications, compliance data, and logistics routes. Most of these parts are sourced through incoming routes triggered by our E-Procurement Module, which processes over 450 orders annually, totaling around 90,000 units. With this volume, speed is essential—but so is data accuracy, as purchase orders directly impact inventory valuation and automated accounting.
The solution? Fully automate the quoting and ordering process.
Electronic components were a natural starting point, given their frequently fluctuating prices and the complexity of orders with many line items.
The new rosslight connector seamlessly integrates Mouser Electronics’ search and order APIs into our Odoo ERP system. It’s embedded within the purchasing module and can even be configured to update pricing daily—ensuring our data stays current and our procurement process remains efficient.
